Common questions
How do I know if my tree is protected?
Type your postcode above. We check it against 210 conservation areas and 3,375 Tree Preservation Order areas. Then confirm with your council before any work.
Why are some Tree Preservation Orders missing?
Enfield, Haringey, Camden, Islington and Hackney have not yet published their orders to the national Planning Data platform. Their conservation areas are on the map. For orders, use the council's own map.
What if my tree is in a conservation area?
You must give the council six weeks notice before most work. Trees with a trunk under 7.5 cm across, measured 1.5 m up, are exempt. See our permission guide.
How often is the map updated?
We pull fresh data from Planning Data every week. Last change: 30 September 2026.
